Taking action

Taking action, this is one of the most fundamental aspects of any personal development. I myself have read many books, listened to may CD’s, tapes and been to lots of seminars. However the best results I have ever got by far have been when I have taken action. Many times I say to myself I should do this or I should do that but I end up shoulding all over myself. It is only when your decisions become a MUST that you will take the necessary action.

So what do those actions have to be? They can be the smallest thing such as making a telephone call, setting up a dairy date with somone, sceduling some actions into your day or just starting on that task you have been putting off for ages. It really makes no difference how big or small the actions are as long as take action. There will never ever be any results without this vital ingredient.

Taking action creates a snowball effect in the universe and within you. Once you have decided on a goal and started to take action towards the achievement of that goal you cannot fail. Now, does this mean that if you run every day for a week that you will be able to run a marathon the following week, its highly unlikely. However the fact that you have decided to run a marathon and taken action towards it achievement will start the process within your body to attain that goal. Yes there will be mountains to climb along the way but it is when you reach one of those impossible hills to climb and you take the initiative to step up and conquor whatever is in your way that the real growth happens.

Another point to remember is Gods delays are not Gods denials. Simply stated this means that if you have decided to say run a marathon and have trained for say 6 months and on race day you have to pull out due to injury or you get half way round and have to give up, does this mean you have failed in your quest……..No it is just another hill for you to climb. Pick yourself up, dust yourself down and reassess where you were before, during and after the event. there is no such thing as failure only education.

For example, if you set a target for sales of say £5000.00 and after working hard you only achieved £4000.00 have you really failed in your goal. No of course not, you are £4000.00 better off that you were and you have an education, provided you can find the lesson that is hidden within any endeavour. Maybe you just didnt work hard enough, maybe you didnt work smart enough, maybe you cherry picked the best customers and ignored those you could turn into great customers, maybe you just gave up too early or the clock said its time to go home! Never give up, ever. If you believe in yourself and trust in your ability you will succeed.

A fantastic way to create belief in yourself is to create a success journal or scrapbook. Try to have 100 success’s of your life documented. Your first A in school, your first goal or home run. The day you passed your driving test, the day you passed your exams, the day you asked that special person out and they accepted! Whatever it is create your own success journal of times when things were easy and hard, times when you thought you could not do it and yet you managed it. These achievements and there will be many in your life are the stuff of mastery of life. They will tell you any time you want, that you can do it, you can achieve whatever you set your mind to and that it is sometimes hard but the rewards are often worth it. Even if the rewards are not thet great the journey has made you what you are today.

Start today to create your own success journal and document when you have made a decision to achieve a goal and then when it is achieved document how good you feel about it. This is a great way to remind yourself about the good and hard times.
