What is the ultimate goal? Perhaps it is aspiring to contribute something of value. Finding a way to help others - those we care about deeply - can inspire us for a lifetime. There is always a place in the world for those who are willing to give of their time, energy, capital, creativity and commitment.

What simple act of kindness could you show another person today? Decide now, take action, and be sure to appreciate how this makes you feel.

This person or people does not have to be someone you know, in fact showing kindness to a stranger is often one of the finest rewards you can get. It could be helping an elderly person with their shopping, giving up your seat for a lady or again an elderly person, buying lunch someone unfortunate enough to beg, dropping into a children’s home with a big bag of sweets and chocolate for the children to share, visiting a retirement home to just sit and talk with one of the residents who never gets visitors. These are just a few examples of ways we can improve others lives in a little way to us but a massive way for them.

People are often forgotten. Look at the many lonely people in the world and the people whose lives have been changed through circumstance, often we cannot change the whole world but we can change the world of one person at a time. A quick story for you now on that note and then I’ll finish……..

There is a famous beach where every year hundreds and thousands of crabs wash up onto the beach and slowly die. One day someone noticed a lady throwing crabs back into the ocean one at a time, that someone asked this lady what on earth she was doing because it was hardly making any difference because there was so many crabs and wasn’t this pointless!

The lady stopped what she was doing and reflected quietly, then she picked up another crab and threw it back into the sea. She then turned and simply replied ” made a difference to that one”.

We can make a difference to the world but we can only do it one person at a time.

How may times have you heard the lament “Is that all there is?”

The Apollo astronauts, who had prepared nearly their entire lives for their moon landing, were euphoric in their historic moment of glory, yet upon returning to earth some became terribly depressed. After all, what was left to look forward to? What could be a bigger goal than making it to the moon, exploring outer space? Perhaps the answer is to be found in exploring an equally uncharted frontier: the inner space of the mind and heart.

We all need a continued sense of emotional and spiritual growth; it is the food on which our souls thrive. As you approach the attainment of the goals you’ve pursued, be sure to immediately design for yourself a new compelling future.

In pursuit of our goals, we often set in motion far-reaching consequences. Does the honeybee deliberate on how to propagate flowers? No, but in the process of seeking sweet nectar, the bee unknowingly gathers pollen on its legs, flies to the next flower, and sets in motion a wondrous chain reaction that results in a hillside awash with color.

In the same way, your pursuit of worthwhile goals has probably resulted in unforeseen benefits for others.

Maybe it was the simple decision to call an old friend once a month, which has resulted in all sorts of pluses you didn’t even anticipate.

In how many ways will other people benefit from your efforts today?

All people who succeed consciously or unconsciously utilize the same formula for success. Use these four simple steps to achieve whatever you desire.

THE ULTIMATE SUCCESS FORMULA

1) Decide what you want. (Be precise! Clarity is power.)

2) Take action (because desire is not enough).

3) Notice what’s working or not. (You don’t want to continue to expend energy on an approach that’s worthless.)

4) Change your approach until you achieve what you want. (Flexibility gives you the power to create a new approach and a new result.)

5) Never, ever, ever, give up, yes change your approach, change your mindset, think positively and if you have decided and in your heart that you know this is right for you, then never give up. The world is full of people who try and give up at the smallest obstacle but it is those people who really step up and conquer their own mountain that will win the day. It is often not the winning post that gives the satisfaction it is the journey there that makes you what you are, so enjoy the journey.

The secret to achieving your goals is mental conditioning. Review them at least twice daily. Post your goals where you’re sure to see them every day: In your journal, on your desk, in your wallet, or over your bathroom mirror so that you can look at them while you’re shaving or putting on makeup.

Remember, whatever you consistently think about and focus upon you move toward. This is a simple yet important way to program your RAS for success.

One of your goals should be to look at your goals every day for a minimum of 30 days and ideally 90 days. The reason for this is that 30 days is a great start to activating your mind towards your goals but 90 days is the ideal timescale to really get your focus and results.

How would you feel if you had mastered and attained all your goals a year from now? How would you feel about yourself? How would you feel about your life?

Answering these questions will help you develop compelling reasons to achieve your goals. Having a powerful enough WHY will provide you with the necessary HOW.

Take this opportunity to brainstorm your top four one-year goals. Under each one, write a paragraph about why you are absolutely committed to achieving these goals within the year.

Never, ever leave the site of a goal without first taking some form of positive action toward its attainment. Right now, take a moment to define the first steps you must take to achieve your goal.

What can you do today to move yourself forward? Even the smallest step - A phone call, a commitment, sketching out an initial plan - will put you closer to your goal.

Then develop a list of simple things you can do every day for the next ten days. These ten days of creating a chain of habits and building unstoppable momentum will ensure your long term success. Begin Now!

Remember nothing is ever achieved unless you take action. All the positive thinking, manifestations, use of “The Secret” or any other type of future wishes will never be any good unless you take action. Even the smallest of actions backed up with continuous future actions will start a chain of events that WILL snowball into your dreams.

If your first attempt at achieving your goals seems futile, should you move on and do something else? Absolutely not!

Persistence overshadows even talent as the most valuable resource in shaping the quality of life. After all, no one ever achieved a goal by being interested in its achievement; one must be committed. Isn’t it possible that short-term “failures” may actually provide you with the necessary insights or distinctions to create even greater success in the future? OF COURSE!

As you look back now over your “unsuccessful” attempts in the past, what have you learned? How can you use these insights to create great success, now and in the future?
