what you link pain to and what you link pleasure to shape your destiny. Each of us has learned and adopted a unique pattern of behaviors to get ourselves out of pain and into pleasure. Some people do this by drinking, smoking, overeating or verbally abusing others. Others do it by exercising, conversing, learning, helping others, or making a difference in some way.

What are some of your pain-avoiding and pleasure inducing patterns? How have they shaped your life up until now? Make a list of these strategies. When you want to feel better, do you watch TV? Light a cigarette? Go to sleep? What are some of the more positive ways in which you could move away from pain and toward pleasure?

Forget the past and concentrate on now and the future. What you have done in the past is merely experience. Don’t beat yourself up if you have formed bad habits to make you feel good or to avoid pain. There is nothing you can do about the past as you can never change it. However you can forge a new future and create a better present for yourself each and every day. So think about how you can create the present and future YOU want for YOU.

All people who succeed consciously or unconsciously utilize the same formula for success. Use these four simple steps to achieve whatever you desire.

THE ULTIMATE SUCCESS FORMULA

1) Decide what you want. (Be precise! Clarity is power.)

2) Take action (because desire is not enough).

3) Notice what’s working or not. (You don’t want to continue to expend energy on an approach that’s worthless.)

4) Change your approach until you achieve what you want. (Flexibility gives you the power to create a new approach and a new result.)

5) Never, ever, ever, give up, yes change your approach, change your mindset, think positively and if you have decided and in your heart that you know this is right for you, then never give up. The world is full of people who try and give up at the smallest obstacle but it is those people who really step up and conquer their own mountain that will win the day. It is often not the winning post that gives the satisfaction it is the journey there that makes you what you are, so enjoy the journey.

The secret to achieving your goals is mental conditioning. Review them at least twice daily. Post your goals where you’re sure to see them every day: In your journal, on your desk, in your wallet, or over your bathroom mirror so that you can look at them while you’re shaving or putting on makeup.

Remember, whatever you consistently think about and focus upon you move toward. This is a simple yet important way to program your RAS for success.

One of your goals should be to look at your goals every day for a minimum of 30 days and ideally 90 days. The reason for this is that 30 days is a great start to activating your mind towards your goals but 90 days is the ideal timescale to really get your focus and results.
